What is racksack®?
racksack® is the original racking-mounted recycling bag, trusted worldwide for over a decade.
Instead of placing bulky commercial recycling bins on the floor, racksack® hangs from racking, rollcages, production trolleys, or other equipment, such as forklift trucks, making it easier to capture waste where it’s created and keep walkways clear.
Because racksack® is reusable for years (and helps reduce reliance on disposable black bin liners), it can also help customers save costs long-term, while freeing up valuable floor space.
It’s widely used across warehouses, logistics, retail, offices, and production environments, with:
- Multiple sizes and formats (fixed and mobile use cases)
- Clear front prints and waste symbols to help staff sort correctly
- A durable, reusable design suited to demanding workplaces
- Support for better waste management, which helps customers stay aligned with legislation that’s becoming stricter over time
The Waste Problem (and the racksack® fix)
The Problem
On busy sites, waste builds up fast, and the “quick fixes” don’t really work.
Many warehouses end up tying black bin liners to rack ends or relying on bulky plastic bins that eat up valuable floor space. Most of the time, they’re poorly labelled (or not labelled at all), so waste gets mixed, recycling gets contaminated, and sorting becomes a constant battle.
Black bin liners also rip, leak, and look messy, and once they’re full, they usually head straight for the landfill. Traditional bins aren’t much better: they still need liners, and when they’re used without them, they’re heavy, awkward to empty, and a pain to drag over to the main commercial waste bin.
The Solution
racksack® makes waste collection simple, tidy, and easy to sort.
racksack® hangs where waste happens - on racking ends, rollcages, desks, trolleys and more - keeping floors clear and waste out of the way.
With clear waste symbols and colour-coded prints on the front of the bag, teams know instantly where each type of waste goes, helping customers improve recycling, reduce contamination, and support compliance.
racksack® is also extremely durable and can often be used for years without needing replacement. That reusability makes it a far more sustainable long-term alternative to black bin liners (and a lot less messy, too).
Why UK Waste Legislation makes racksack® more relevant than ever
From 31st March 2025, many workplaces in England have been required to separate waste streams under the Government's Simpler Recycling rules.
In practice, that means customers need a setup that helps teams sort waste correctly every day.
Workplaces must separate waste before collection, including:
On 29th November 2024, DEFRA confirmed that businesses must separate paper and card from other dry recyclables (such as glass, metal, and plastics), unless their waste collector has carried out an assessment allowing them to be collected together.

Waste Symbols: Small Detail. BIG Impact
Clear waste symbols are one of the most powerful parts of the racksack® system.
Instead of relying on training, racksack® uses large, clear front prints to guide behaviour instantly.
Available waste symbol options include:
General Waste
Used where non-recyclable waste is unavoidable. Often paired with recycling symbols nearby to clearly separate what can and can't be recycled.
Cardboard
Ideal for packaging breakdown in warehouses, retail back-of-house, and packing areas where cardboard is generated in high volumes.
Mixed Paper & Card
Commonly used in offices, admin areas, and light production environments where paper and card are generated together.
Plastic Only
Designed for clean plastic packaging such as films, wraps, and trays. Particularly useful in pick and pack areas.
Plastic Strapping
Used in goods-in and pallet breakdown areas where strapping is removed and often left loose on the floor if not captured properly.
Each symbol helps customers:
For resellers, this creates natural upsell and cross-sell opportunities and helps customers manage multiple waste streams across a single site.

FAQ
Workplaces are expected to keep paper and card separate from other dry recyclables unless their waste collector is collecting them together under the appropriate assessment/arrangement. The best approach is to confirm the customer’s contractor setup, then design on-site streams to match it.
Yes, but timing varies. Micro-firms (fewer than 10 full-time employees) have longer to comply (until 31st March 2027), while the workplace rules started 31st March 2025 for others.
No. The guidance focuses on separating the right waste streams, not on forcing a single container type. Customers can choose a container type/size that fits their operations. The key is that the system works and is easy to follow on-site.
Because recycling bags like racksack® add point-of-use collection (aisle ends, benches, rollcages, trolleys) to reduce overflow, improve housekeeping, and make sorting easier, while still feeding into the customer’s main commercial waste bins and collections.
Start where waste is bulky, frequent, and most likely to cause mess/contamination/trip-hazards.
This delivers quick wins, and then once the customer sees the positive impact, they can scale to other zones.
Contamination usually comes from confusion + convenience. The biggest improvements come from:
- Making waste streams obvious (clear labels/symbols)
- Putting disposal points where waste happens
- Keeping 'General Waste' from becoming a dumping ground
- Standardising layouts across the site
WRAP’s contamination guidance (while often written for collections) reinforces the importance of tackling contamination through clearer systems and communications.
